Muhammad Aldaham’s mount bids for four-timer
Thursday September 17, 2026 – Prominent Kuwait owner Sheikh Abdullah Homoud Almalek Alsabah holds key chances in both divisions of this weekend’s SAR250,0000 Sprint Championships with his Farough (GB) bidding for a fourth consecutive success at King Khalid Racecourse in Taif on Friday.
Muhammad Aldaham’s mount has been in great form since arriving from Roger Varian’s UK stable nearly 12 months ago, and just recently added to his three Riyadh wins to land the Sprint Championship Prep for trainer Abdullah Alsidrani.
The son of Ardad faces nine rivals in the 1200m event for colts and geldings sponsored by Medan App and they include Reyman (USA), the Red Stable of Prince Faisal bin Khaled bin Abdulaziz’s Jasour (USA) and Jaras (IRE) who were second, fourth and fifth respectively in the trial on August 28.
Sheikh Abdullah Homoud Almalek Alsabah also has another key player in the line-up trained by Alsidrani with ex UK runner Raakeb (IRE) who scored on his local debut but then finished down the field in last month’s Taif Derby.
The White Stable of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz rely on Aez Alkhatir (KSA), last year’s Sarawat Cup runner-up who looked good on his Taif debut in the Alhada Cup but then could only manage fourth on his first start for his new owners in last weekend’s JCSA Sprint Cup.
A bigger field of 17 have been declared for the Sprint Championship Fillies Open with Sheikh Abdullah Homoud Almalek Alsabah this time represented by Taif Cup Prep fourth Kawthar (GB), but the two key players on ratings are the lightly-raced Alnaifh (USA) for trainer Salman Alfarraj and Taif Cup Prep second Raaod (USA).
The third race worth SAR250,000 on Friday is the Sprint Championship for Arabian Horses which features regulars Jade De Faust (FR) and Baseq And Bake (USA) with top-rated in the 15-strong field being Alexis Moreno’s mount Foo De Pine (ITA).
The six-times winner disappointed when last seen in January but had previously beaten the aforementioned pair into second and third when taking the Group 3 Sprint Championship Cup by four lengths earlier that month.
Saturday’s main events are the two SAR450,000 JCSA Contribution races over 1400m for two-year-olds who were sold at the JCSA’s Yearling Sale last year, and once again Sheikh Abdullah Homoud Almalek Alsabah has a fascinating runner in the colts and gelding event with Haiyahom (KSA) after he streaked 20-lengths clear to win on his sole start in July.
The only other winner in the field of 13 is Trankeelo (KSA) after he made it second time lucky with victory in last month’s Taif Cup Prep for Local Breds.
A full field of 18 have been assembled for the JCSA Contribution Fillies and they include Sheikh Abdullah Homoud Almalek Alsabah’s second-time-out winner Almalkiah (KSA), with the owner also responsible for one of the highest-rated runners this weekend courtesy of Group 2 Riyadh Dirt Sprint third Muqtahem (IRE).
He chased home Bob Baffert’s Imagination (USA) on The Saudi Cup weekend and returns to action in race one on Saturday – a SAR120,000 Open – after landing a similar event on July 25.
