AMERICAN IMPORT LEADS THE PUBLIC SECURITY CUP FIELD
Thursday November 5, 2026 – Former Brad Cox inmate Star Of Wonder (USA) will bid to remain unbeaten in Saudi Arabia when reappearing against sixteen rivals in the SAR150,000 Public Security Cup at King Abdulaziz Racecourse on Saturday.
A multiple winner when trained in America, the six-year-old is two from two so far for trainer Ahmed Mohamoud having carried the colours of White Stable and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz & Sons to success in November and December of last year.
Former British champion jockey Oisin Murphy was aboard when he scored in the Listed King Faisal Cup on the latter occasion and he will be ridden by Camilio Ospina in the weekend’s final event over 1600m.
Lined up against Star of Wonder will be the colours of Sheikh Abdullah Homoud Almalek Alsabah, carried by Ajwadi (GB), Uncle (GB) and the four-time seeking Mhalhal (USA), with the Alexis Moreno-ridden Alwaqqad (USA) also a player having won his last two starts including the Makkah Almokarramah Regional Gov Cup when last seen at Taif in August.
There are two races both carrying purses of SAR300,000 for juveniles on the undercard with the Saud bin Salman Cup for Colts fully subscribed with 20 runners, while the Saud bin Salman Cup for Fillies has attracted sixteen entries topped by White Stable’s Ehteraz (KSA), who bids to bounce back from defeat in better company in Taif having landed both her previous starts.
Friday’s feature is the SAR150,000 domestic Group 3 Ministry of Defense Cup for three-year-olds over 1600m in which White Stable again are set to dominate with three of the nine runners headed by the top-rated Reda Al Aziz (KSA).
The mount of Rayan Altoairsh won on debut in September of last year and was last seen finishing runner-up under that rider in the domestic Group 1 King Abdulaziz Cup in January.
He will be joined by other White Stable runners Aez Alkhatir (KSA) and Bono (KSA) and they take on an interesting contender in the shape of Desert Glimmer (KSA) who bids for the hat-trick under Moreno after bagging both starts in Taif during the summer.
Also looking for a third win on the spin is the Red Stable of Prince Faisal bin Khaled bin Abdulaziz entry Massyon Almoghtrah (KSA) who followed up a Taif success with victory in Riyadh last month.
Red Stable also have every chance of landing the domestic Group 1 Prep for The Crown Prince Cup with Yemken (KSA) and Hafedhk Allah (KSA) both chasing the SAR120,000 prize, while they also have Taif Ozak Cup winner Wootton'sun (FR) leading the charge in the Listed Prep for The Crown Prince Cup.
Ricardo Ferreira’s mount is one of the standouts in the field of 20 along with White Stable’s Haqeet (USA), who scored at this level in December of last year prior to finishing behind Wootton'sun the following month when they were fifth and seventh respectively in the King Abdulaziz Racetrack Champion.
Haqeet, a son of champion Arrogate (USA), will be having his first outing since finishing last behind Forever Young (JPN) in The Saudi Cup on February 14.
